SciFi and Fantasy Art: Dusk Of Battle

Paladin Lancer, weary from the countless wars he's been forced to endure clings tightly to, Aria Colleen, a woman desperatly seeking her lost child. Aria awoke one day with near total amnesia Her once human body replaced with a cybernetic one. Known as Panzers These Armoured cyborgs account for a great number of the military and civilian population in the future of Lancer's world. In this drawing The two share a moments embrace, knowing that this brief calm can not last. The towering clouds behind enshroud an ominous tower that reaches to the heavens. Both know that they will soon have to face the horrors of both Undead and Panzers alike bent under the will of the deadly Demon Lich Anubus. This scene will take place far into the future of my world Where only a select few of the characters from the previous 2 eras will have survived to see. such as Lich Baulter, and Paladin Lancer. I wasn't quite as satisfied with the way the clouds turned out in this one, though I did do a much better job at making them in my next drawing 'Twilight Of Battle'

*first comment dance!* Aw, so sad. . . I like the sky in the far background very much, and I think you did well with the man's hair. 1 Good job overall.

1 Jose Rafael CruzpaganIII replies: "  Thanks alot! I really wanted the crimson clouds to contrast with Lancer and Aria, and I'm pretty satisfied with the end result. Lancers hair style has given me tons of headaches in the past since I'm trying to make it in a style thats a cross between the Japanese and American comic style, it's also hard trying to draw elegant looking silver white hair and his came out much grayer than I'd hoped for, it sort of makes sense though when you consider how much older he is at this time in his life. ONE!!! This rocks! (though the WHITE face....is not personally my thing) but oh well. Better than me 1

1 Jose Rafael CruzpaganIII replies: "I'm still contemplating just how pale Aria's face should be in the end. There will be logical reason why her face is so pale, though in the end I guess I really just wanted her to be able to have a look similar to that of a geisha at one point or another in my story. ^_^ Thanks alot for your comments! ^_^"

I love Aria's face it looks sooo soft and sad
you did really good on the emotion in this drawing. Nice colors in the sky!

1 Jose Rafael CruzpaganIII replies: "Thanks alot! ^_^ I made her face very white becouse I was hoping to give her a look similar to that of a Geisha. I guess you could sort of figure that Seraphie is European while Lyja is American, where Aria is be Japanese. ^_^ I still have alot of work to do to get them to that point though where they really reflect that. ^_~"

Lil' constructive crit. Aria's head is HUGE compared to Lancer. I love the sky though! (Did you use watercolour for that?)

22 Jose Rafael CruzpaganIII replies: "  Hmmm really? I never really noticed that before. Surely it can't seem that big though, can it? ^_^() Keeping track of such scale issues is a problem that I have been working very hard at to improve upon. Hopefully you wont ever have to find this problem again in my later drawings... If you do though, I'm hoping that you'll point it out to me again so I can be sure to fix the problem it once and for all. Thank you very much for the info though I really appreciate it. ^_~

No, no water colors here. These are Prisma color pencils with some Copic marker for the base colore. I purchased some Water color pencils recently but I have yet to fully exploit their range of capabilities at this point. I would eventually like to pick up a good set of Water colors though, to see how they change the overall impact of my work. ^_~ Thank you again for your ever helpful comments Lady Alia. =^_^="
